3D Modeling
The theme of my artwork is to show the perception of one’s self and how it constantly changes over time, even if one thinks that it doesn’t. I chose to show this theme through a series of 3-D modeled bedrooms because they reflect a lot about a person.
In my research about self-perception, I found that many people do not think that they change that much over time. Many believe that their present selves are who they are and that they won’t change in the future from who they presently are. Although one can look back and say that the person they were five years ago is not who they are now, they don’t believe that they will ever change again, but that is never the case. Everyone will constantly change over the course of their lives even though they may never really fully realize it. The question that I sought to answer for this project was: “Why do we think that we can’t change in the future even though we know that we have changed in the past?”
I have chosen myself as inspiration and as a research subject for this project. A bedroom can tell a story about a person and I wanted to tell my own story through my past, present and my vision of my future bedroom as a reflection of how I believe I will be in the next ten years or so. This project has really helped me to look at myself and see how much I have already changed, even though I am only 21 years old. It is interesting to see the differences in my life and how my experiences have influenced who I am today. I am looking forward to seeing who my future self will be and how I will change not only from who I am today, but who I think I will be in the future.
